Past the Shadow

Not a word would be told,

After all, who could be so bold?

Their eyes just blankly stare…

All cowards, what pain can they bear?

She just stands alone, in the spotlight

She was there all along, but the dark,

Oh, the dark made them blind.

The difference has made it far too stark.

They continue to stay dumb,

Still life is what they’ve all become.

Not a protest, their voices now fail.

The silence kills like a scorpion’s tail.

Fear, its funny, can change us all.

From the pinnacle of pro-action we fall.

To the bowels of conformity.

Acceptance is now our greatest ambition.

Somewhere past the shadows,

Lingers faintly a lone voice.

And that’s all it remains.

Until some day, a revolution tries

To free us of our shackled mouths.
